Dear customers and
friends!
This is the time to celebrate. Our
Needle & Arts Centre is 10 years
old (or young) and was started after we already had
run
The Framing Post
and the
Pier Street Gallery
for several years.
It started right now 10 years ago, and what a time
of development, change and challenge it was!
Handmade Pottery
and
Needlework
are still going strong in our store, other lines
such as Sheepskin products from New Zealand, Wicker
Baskets and Furniture and the very successful Tole
Painting department came and went with changing
customer demands.
The most amazing part though was the start and rapid
growth of our
Yarn Department.
We are now very grateful to offer one of the best
selections of yarns, patterns and accessories for
knitting and crochet in Western Canada, with
customers all across the globe who appreciate our
special flair, personal touch and service.
Inge and I thank all our customers for
10 great years!!
As a special thank you we start our Huge
10th Anniversary Sale this Friday, October 16th.
Plus, every day, for 10 days, we will draw a $100
shopping voucher. See all details below, and
we made sure that all our
remote customers can be part of this celebration!
Thank you for your support!

Knit in the Park 2009 - brief update
We got more Chemo Caps in and are sitting at 128
as of today! More are on the way from North
Carolina (photo below) and Nova Scotia, plus some
are still in the works locally. So we'll hit the
150 for sure and are now thinking about
distributing them to cancer patients in November.
Any suggestions are
welcome.
Ginny and Jane Lee (right) from NC sent us the
photo with their caps: "It was fun to help you
out... Glad you were able to meet your goal..."
Warm thanks to ALL participants!!

Free Pattern(s) of the Month
 We
picked two free patterns especially for this
newsletter:
Alison did the Gnocchi
Scarf, made from our new novelty
yarn
Gnocchi from Lana Grossa. It was
challenging at first to work with this pompon yarn,
but the result is real special. Download her pattern
here!
The other free pattern we got from Tahki Yarns:
Pop-Up Mittens.
Hard to believe that we will need them soon; but in
about 2 months the days will be getting longer
again...

Alison advises that you can use a variety of yarns
for this pattern:
"Of the sale yarns, Paton's
Shetland Chunky would be great (you may
want to check the
SALE list), and comes in some tweedy
colors. Style Aran would work, so would Cascade 220,
Berroco Cuzco or
Cascade Pastaza too. I think any aran
to chunky weight wool or wool blend would
work". Download the pattern
here!

 It
sure comes as no surprise that we got
MANY new knitting and crochet books
in, we picked the best for you, and
quite a list of new yarns for the
Fall and Winter Season - as well as yarns for

We thought it would be boring to present you
50 or more blog postings on our
yarn blog for all new arrivals,
therefore we tried something new and
interesting:
