My interest in photography
began during the 1960's, leading to an apprenticeship at commercial photography businesses and college courses in the San
Francisco area. I moved to Canada in 1970 and discovered a new inspiration in the wild environments of western Canada.
In 1998 I started assembling photographs taken throughout the 1990's for the first
volume of a projected six book series on Western Canada. Photographs of Western Canada, Volume One: The West Coast, Barkley
Sound to Combers Beach was published and released for sale in May 2001.
A solo exhibition of 67 of the 88 images from the book ran from May 6 to July
23, 2000 at the Provincial Museum of Alberta in Edmonton.
I have been engaged full time since 1994 producing photographic work for publication,
exhibition, and collection. Currently I am working on Volume 2 and a separate series of photographs exploring the sculptural
and artistic forms of horses. Work also continues on a ten-year in-depth photographic study of Jasper National Park in the
Canadian Rockies. For the most part I use medium and large format cameras and produce the photographic prints from my Edmonton
darkroom. I spend about 6 months each year on location throughout Western Canada.
